1st Swiss Seniors Tennis Circuit
at least 3, maximum 9 matches within 16 weeks
Description & destination
The Swiss Seniors Tennis Circuit 2024 (SSTC24 for short) will take place for the first time this summer from April to September as a pilot in German-speaking Switzerland.
The aim is to offer the top senior players in Switzerland - from MS 60+/WS 55+ - additional and flexible playing opportunities against players of the same age and strength in the categories listed below.
The SSTC24 is embedded in the already existing, self-organized cantonal and regional summer championships of the following tennis associations: Bern Tennis, Zürichsee/Linth Tennis, Eastern Switzerland Tennis, Tennis Region Basel, Tennis Aargau, Solothurn Tennis and Zug Tennis. In addition, the 3rd Carl Spitzer Memorial Trophy is integrated into the SSTC24.
The SSTC24 is jointly organized by TennisMatch, Swiss Seniors Tennis and the organizers of the regional championships. A total of 10 strength classes are offered from WS 55+ / MS 60+.
The SSTC24 is divided into a qualifying round with preliminary round and main round, play-offs and a final, which takes place on Sept. 14 at TC Teufenthal. The participants of the regional championships qualify for the play-offs in the first instance. If there are still free slots, wildcards can also be awarded.
You can find the results of the SSTC Play-Offs on the Tennis-Match App and at Swiss Tennis under tournament no. 147558.
How does it work?
The SSTC - 4-stage model comprises the following points:
- Procedure: The SSTC24 lasts from June to September. It is organized in the regional associations that already hold self-organized regional championships. The circuit is divided into (a) a (regional) qualification (preliminary round and main round), the (interregional) play-offs and (c) the SSTC24 final. (see illustration below).
- Mode: Both the qualifiers and the play-offs are self-organized, i.e. the respective host is responsible for the match and ensures that it can be played at his/her home club. Only the final takes place on a fixed date.
- Venue: the game will be played at the host's club. (If this is not possible, the game will be played at an SSTC partner center at the host's expense).
