HSG Tennis League

Spring 2025 (HSG-TLF25)

Self-guided, digitally supported tennis tournament for students.

Description

The HSG-TLF25 is the ideal opportunity to play a few matches and get to know other players. The special feature: The tournament is run as a "self-organized tournament". This means that the matches are planned and played independently, at the time and place of your choice. In the preliminary round, you will play in a group of 4 or 5 against all other participants in your group, which guarantees you at least three to four matches. The exact number of matches depends on the number of registrations. All details, from match planning to results recording, are organized via an app. Four tournaments are planned per year, i.e. one tournament per quarter, each lasting 8 - 10 weeks.

The HSG-TLF25 is divided into a preliminary round (or qualifying round) and a final tournament. The preliminary round begins on March 3 and lasts until April 30. The final tournament begins on May 1 and ends on May 24. The group winners of each group qualify for the final round.

What are your advantages?

  • at least 3 matches in the preliminary round
  • Flexible, individual appointment booking directly via the TennisMatch app
  • better planning of matches (match duration 60 min. max.)
  • League system with mixed groups of 4

Procedure:

  • After the draw, you will be given access to an app that will be used to organize the tournament. You will be informed about your group, the matches and other information via the app.
  • In the preliminary round, everyone plays against everyone else in groups of 4 or 5.
  • The final round will take place from May 1 to May 24 in a knockout system.
  • The first named player(s) is responsible for organizing the match, including reserving the court and providing four match balls.

How it works

The players organize their own matches within the group using the Tennis-Match app. As the host, you are responsible for 1-2 of your 3-4 matches. This means that you make the court reservation after you have agreed the time and place with your opponent (guest) in the chat. As the host, you also pay the court rental fee at the respective HSG Partner Center (see list of centers below). You will then be invited to your 2 other matches in return. You will receive information from the official via the TennisMatch app about which matches are to be organized and by when, i.e. appointments and results must be recorded via the TennisMatch app. You communicate with your guest via the TennisMatch app (chat function) or via email.

The deadlines listed in the app are so-called soft deadlines, i.e. they can be exceeded in the preliminary round. It is important that the deadline was defined within the soft deadline.

There is an app for Apple and one for Android.

Game mode/Tiebreak

The game mode for the preliminary round and the final round is as follows:

  • the game is played on 8 games - "no-ad". At 7/7 there is a tiebreak to 7
  • The duration of the match is exactly 1 hour (incl. 5 minutes warm-up time); each match ends on the hour.
  • Each game won gives one point; a win gives 2 bonus points.
  • In all other respects, the Swiss Tennis Tournament Regulations apply.

Registration

The tournament is played in three categories according to the Unisport course levels (see requirements). In order to be able to divide the categories, we need a self-assessment of your playing strength. The following levels are available:
