Spring Trophy
2020
Switzerland's first self-directed, digitally supported tennis tournament for licensed players.
Pfannenstiel
Spring Trophy
2020
After the successful Pfannenstiel Summer & Winter Trophies, the Pfannenstiel Spring Trophy (PFT) now follows. This tournament is divided into a 6-week qualifying tournament and a 2-week main tournament. First, the tournament is played in groups of 4 according to the round robin principle. The 4 best players in each category qualify for the main tournament in a knockout system (subject to change). The final matches will probably take place on March 28/29 on the courts of TC Zumikon and/or TC Herrliberg.
What's new compared to the Pfannenstiel Winter Trophy?
- 9 Categories
- min. 4 and max. 16 players per category
- Set to 6 games, "no-ad", match tiebreak to 7 instead of 10; match duration: max. 120 min.
- Qualification reduced from 8 to 6 weeks.
Categories
The following categories are played:
Men
- MS 35+ R4/R6
- MS 35+ R6/R8
- MS 35+ R8/R9
- MS 45+ R5/R7
- MS 45+ R7/R8
- MS 45+ R8/R9
- MS 55+ R5/R9
- MS 65+ R6/R9
Women
- WS 40+ R6/R9
The tournament management reserves the right to merge the categories if too few players register and agree.
How does it work?
The qualifiers are played in groups of 4, i.e. you have 6 weeks to play 3 ranking-relevant matches. In 1 to 2 of these 3 matches you are the host; in the other matches you are the guest. As the host, you are obliged to organize the match, i.e. reserve the court before the match, bring the balls to the match and report the result to the official after the match via the TennisMatch app or by email. Since "no-ad" is played, a match should generally not last longer than 90 minutes. (However, the courts are reserved for 2 hours).
In principle, the 4 best players per category enter the main tournament (subject to change). The date indicated in the Swiss Tennis Tableau is the last possible match date. This date applies if the players cannot agree on another date.
